Story of a boy

A December baby. Young still, immature mentality, but smart. Weird combination it's true. He is one of the millions or billions player who addicted to an online game - Maple Story. Life would be boring unless he gets his fingers on the notebook that doesn't belongs to him at all, and yet he treated like it's his asset. Before he was exposed to the Internet, PS2 was his companion, the addiction was almost similar to the current situation.

Things begin to get serious when a day, the teacher called from school. Mrs.X, i would like to meet you tomorrow at school, are you available? The mother replied:"Sure. But anything happened that you need me to meet you face to face?" Teacher:"Oh, is regarding your son's homework." "Ok, i'll meet you at the office tomorrow then," the mother replied. His mother keep it to herself, she did not bring out the matter when she was back home.

The next day, his mother went to school.
Teacher : Your son has a long list of incomplete homeworks do you know that Mrs. X?
Mrs.X : (shocked)
Teacher : Just to inform you, before it gets worst.
Mrs. X : Thanks teacher. I'll get back to him.
Teacher : He hasn't hand up any of the essays i've asked him to do, is about 10topics.
Mrs. X : Is so sorry teacher. I'll ask him to complete.
Teacher : He is a smart boy, be honest to you, he NEVER did any of the maths exercise before
and i was so shocked to see that he got 97% for the mid-term exam, he is smart.
Mrs. X : Erm...sorry teacher, i'll pay extra attention on him.
Teacher : He still can change.
Mrs. X : Ya, thanks teacher.
Teacher : You're welcome.

Lecture time. He quietly stood there, and promised to finish the remaining essays. Sad to say after months, the teacher called up again, and the same problem occurred. His mother gave him another lecture, grounded him for a month. Things changed a little. His parents were too lenient, as long as the grounded period is over and they see changes, he is allow to play. One fine day, his mum get the news from a friend that he wanted to buy some ID from the friend's son. His mum got home and asked what is it all about. He explained everything, and the main purpose is that he wanted to buy the game ID and sell it with a high price. His mum explained to him that this is not the appropriate time for him, he need not do such things cuz the family still can support him. Although is just an interest, but is just not this time. He nodded and carry on his life.

The lecturing did not just stop, there were few more. Last term arrived, and it was the last day of school. His dad asked for the report card. Teacher didn't give was what he replied. His dad was curious and asked him not to lie, but he insisted by saying the teacher did not give. To clarify things, his mum called up the teacher. Is true that the teacher didn't give it to him, simply because there were uncountable homework that he has yet to complete, she wants to meet the parents again. And he was too afraid to inform his parents about that, he ended up lying.

Lecture for the last day of school was he was grounded again, but this time round he gets a heavier punishment, he is grounded for playing Maple until high school 3 is over. No contact from his friends nor he contact any of them. His even grounded for football. His life for this 1 and a half months term break will be a disaster it seems, but he deserves it.

But come to my point of view. It's agreeable for grounding him such a way, but come to think about it, what about the role of the parents? I think things wouldn't be so serious if they treat it more strictly at the beginning.
